Job offer in Springfield QLD is there any cheaper suburbs to rent close by?

My hubby just got offered a job in Springfield but to make the move we are actually taking a pay cut - anything to get out of Gatton! The rents are quite high there compared to where we are so to make the whole thing do-a-ble we have to find a 2-3bd for under $300. My son is in yr 1 and has already had to change schools once so I would prefer it if the burb we move to has a good school so we dont have to move again but still is close enough for my hubby to go to work. Any suggestions would be great - THANKS!
